Dear Parents,
I wanted to welcome you to a new school year. My name is Miss McAbee and I will be your child's teacher. I'm glad you found my weebly page and hope you will check back often. I will be updating: homework and All Star Readers (once we begin taking AR tests) on a weekly basis. You might want to check Coming Attractions also.
This year Miss Bryant and I will be switching students for several subjects. I will teach both classes their Reading and Language. Miss Bryant will teach their Math and alternate Science and S.S. every other week. Please expect some growing pains in the beginning. For the last two years we switched for Reading and Math and after the students got used to both of us, things went just fine.
Those of you who were here last year know that Bradley is a closed campus. After the tragedy at Sandy Hook, Mrs. Onick decided to take proactive action to protect the students. For the first 3 days of school parents may walk their children to the classroom but after that, they need to enter the school and go to the office. Neither parents or students are allowed in the halls before the bell rings. There will be teachers at the different entrances as a visual reminder. Please remember we are doing this to keep your child as safe as possible.
Your child will have homework Monday - Thursday. It will go home in their homework folder. Please look through it every day as I will also be sending home any memos from myself or the office. On Fridays they will bring their Weekly Work folder home. It contains the work they have done for the week. Please have your child return it empty on Mondays or the first school day of the week. My homework will be a spelling ditto. The purpose of the ditto is to give your child a way to study their weekly words. It will not be graded. I would also like you to have your child read each night especially once we begin taking AR tests.
I hope this will be a successful year for your child. If you need to speak to me, my conference time is from 9:45 - 10:30. Please phone the office to make an appointment as we often have meetings during our prep time. You can also email me at: [email protected].
Thank you in advance for all your help!
